Planning Updates!

The 2016 planning committee members are proud to announce the venue for the Gala event has been booked. Attendees will enjoy delicious, seasonally themed Canadian cuisine while taking in the breathtaking views of the Toronto skyline at the CN Tower’s 360 Restaurant. The 360 Restaurant gently rotates diners so that they may take in the unique 360 degree view of the city, more than 350 metres (1,150 ft) above the ground. The CN Tower 360 Restaurant allows delegates and their companions to enjoy the views of Toronto from a unique perspective and memorable atmosphere.

This year the Versadex Users Conference is introducing Bring Your Own Device wokrshops. These will require you to bring in your own laptop or tablet, and a device will not be provided if you forget. Please don’t forget those devices and make sure the required software is loaded on the device!
New this year in Toronto is the user-led workshops. We will be offering 5 of these workshops to agencies who are doing cool things with VDX data. The deadline for submissions to run a User-Led workshop is QUICKLY approaching! All submissions must be in by Mark April 8th 2016.  Limited spots are available so don’t miss that.
Running a User-Led workshop offers you the opportunity to show-case how your Service has been using the Versadex system and/or the data.  In-addition you will also receive the following:  Users offering a single presentation will receive a 1 day registration fee credit.  A workshop or break-out session and any double session (with a break) is worth a 2 day registration fee credit.  Users who offer 2 or more presentations will receive a full registration fee credit, but if you share the presentation the rebate is split equally between the presenters. Email us if you have any further questions or if you want to submit your request.

Is there an extra day this year?

Many of you have noticed that this year the Versdex Users Workshop is advertised as Monday, September 19 to Thursday, September 22. In previous years, the Monday has not included as part of the workshop but many delegates arrive early and participate in the Golf day.  This year, the Toronto committee is excited to offer those early arrivers the opportunity to tour several of the Toronto Police Service’s specialized units which may include the Toronto Police Operations Center (TPOC), the Computer Cyber Crime Section (C3), the Marine Unit, and others, in addition to the golf day.  To clarify, this is not an additional day added to the workshop this year,……

Have you received you authorization to travel yet?

Registration will soon be open, so get your authorization for Business Travel documents in as soon as possible.  In order to keep offering these informative and engaging workshops, we had to increase the registration fee this year and moving forward to $675 CAD.  For our US delegates, don’t forget that is in Canadian dollars and is subject to the exchange rate. Want to get that registration fee waived? See User-Led Workshops for information on the benefits of running a session.  Receive that travel authorization early, as deadline to register for running a user-led workshop is less than a month away (April 8th).
